EV-W prides itself on its strong athletic tradition which includes a state football championship in 2005, state runners-up in 2004 and a state appearance in 2006. The girls' basketball team also has had two state appearances since 2000 while the wrestling and baseball teams made solo appearances as well. A number of other athletes have qualified as individuals in cross country, wrestling, and track and field.
Award-winning extracurricular programs offer opportunities to participate for students of all ages and interests. Secondary activities include FC-CLA, FFA, DECA, Drama, Investment Club, Mock Trial, Newspaper, SADD, Speech and MSHSL Art Competition, Student Council and Yearbook. Other academic extracurriculars at the elementary and high school are: History Day, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Knowledge Bowl, Math Masters, Peer Helper and Peer Tutor, 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) After School Program and the Junior High Ability Program.
