Musical Notes:

I have been an employee of the Eden Valley-Watkins School District since 1996 teaching private music lessons. From 2005-2023, I was the Community Education Director and created the Before and After School Program (Eagle Kids) and the preschool program (Lil' Eagles).  In 2015 I also became the choral director for grades 5-12.   My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Music, a Master of Arts in Teaching, a Master's in Educational Leadership, and a Licensure in Community Education and Teaching with an emphasis in Vocal Music.

Fun Facts:

My husband and I have three children who all attended Eden Valley-Watkins.  They are musical creatures and we love when they get together and sing, play guitar or piano!  They also enjoy coming home to play on the lake or play the many board games we've collected over the years!  In my time after school, I  direct church choirs.  My experience with Eden Valley- Watkins began in 1996 when I started teaching private piano lessons through Community Education.  I still enjoy teaching private lessons after school for many vocal, guitar, and piano students.  My other hobbies include gardening, traveling, baking, and walking.  We enjoy the beautiful lake trails and meeting people from all over the state.

Most Interesting Musical Experience:

Traveling to Russia on two separate choir tours!  Russia is a very interesting place to visit!  We were fortunate to sing in various cities at several different venues while we were there....

Bethanne Holthaus

Hello!  My name is Bethanne Holthaus. I am originally from Monticello, MN and grew up there with my parents and two brothers. I went to college at SCSU and graduated in April of 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Spanish Education. I was a substitute teacher in various districts closer to Monticello for about a year before getting my first teaching position here at EVW.

I believe that creating a safe, fun, and engaging classroom helps to make learning easier for students. I strive to keep my classroom a safe place for everyone to come and enjoy some music. Creating an appreciation for music from a young age will help not only in the academic areas of a person's life, but also in life in general. It creates an outlet for our emotions- whether it's listening to or creating/performing music- and helps to make us more human. I would like to put the seed of music appreciation in each and every student that comes into my classroom to give them that outlet.

I live in Cold Spring with my two cats, Aria and Rondo. I like to read, scrapbook, hang out with family and friends, and listen to and play music in my free time. I also enjoy the theater, so you may find me performing in a show or working behind the scenes.
