Elementary

Hi! My name is Heidi Block. Growing up, I had the privilege of attending 3 different schools in Central Minnesota, along with graduating from RidgeWater College and St. Cloud State University with a degree in Special Education. I began working at Eden Valley Watkins Schools in the Fall of 1992.
I enjoy teaching students that have special and unique ways of learning. I like being part of a team, whether it be a sports team, a knowledge bowl team or a work team. In Special Education, there are many team members that contribute to the education, wellness and growth of our students. I feel that through problem solving, collaboration and hard work, our team provides opportunities that result in student success. Being part of an educational team supports my philosophy that it takes a village to raise a child. In my free time you will find me spending time with my family and friends.

Mrs. Veronica Soine

Hello! My name is Veronica Soine, and I am excited to be working with your family throughout the upcoming school year. I live in Paynesville with my husband Andy, and enjoy spending time with my adult children.
I began my college coursework in special education at SCSU, and then decided to pursue a diploma in early childhood at SCTC instead. I spent the next 19 years working in a variety of early childhood and school-age settings, along with operating my own child care business out of my home. I have experience working with diverse groups of children with a large variety of needs in Texas and Minnesota. I returned to college in 2010 and completed my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6 at Bemidji State University, adding my Master of Special Education degree at the same university during the summer of 2019. I also volunteered to complete LETRS training through the state of MN within our district, which aligns my instruction with the READ Act and Science of Reading research. I am currently pursuing my ABS Licensure through Hamline University.
I am in my tenth year of teaching at Eden Valley Elementary and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know students and families within our school. My teaching philosophy is hands-on in nature, and I like to tie what we are learning into real-world examples and applications. The best part of teaching for me is finding the right fit for each student's learning needs, and getting to the "a-ha" moments when the connections are made. I enjoy learning, and share my passion for learning with my students. I also encourage humor and creativity in my setting and love to see the strengths and talents of my students in action.
In my spare time I like to camp, kayak, travel, craft and read. I also enjoy conducting research and am an avid life-long learner.
