Tyler Warren
I started teaching here in the district in the fall of 2015. In May of 2014, I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education and received a Work-Based Learning Certificate from the University of Minnesota. In May of 2020, I completed a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
While I teach a variety of classes, I believe each class should be student-centered. Every student has potential - the potential to learn and succeed. A large part of my classes will be centered on self-discovery and self-directed learning through hands-on and inquiry-based lessons. I'm a firm believer in having students apply the knowledge they learn in a "hands-on, minds-on" classroom. Aside from letting my students experience agriculture and gain knowledge, I want my students to understand how agriculture affects them on a daily basis. Incorporating life-long skills and leadership qualities in my classes is something I do as well, to provide students with the chance to sharpen these skills, which will be extremely beneficial in the future.
Aside from teaching, I'm an FFA advisor for the Eden Valley-Watkins FFA Chapter where I work with members year-round in grades 7-12 preparing for contests, planning and conducting community events, and developing their leadership skills. In addition to FFA, I'm an assistant cross country coach and the head girl's track and field coach.
Outside of school, I can be found helping on my family's farm south of Watkins, where we milk cows and farm acreage growing corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and oats. When I get some free time away from school and the farm, I enjoy running and competing in road races - 5ks all the way up to marathons - around the upper Midwest.
